Introduction
Yun Lin Hu Memorial Scholarship for Ethnic Minority Students was established in loving memory of Mr. Yun Lin Hu. The Scholarship supports Ethnic Minority students who are planning to further their education in Hong Kong's higher education institutes. Five scholarships of up to HKD$20,000 each will be awarded to selected applicants. Applicants will be selected based on academic performance, conduct, strength of character, financial need, involvement in community affairs, participation in extra-curricular activities, clear life goals, leadership qualities, sense of responsibility and desire to contribute to their communities and to Hong Kong society.
Scholarship Objectives
To facilitate post-secondary education for the ethnic minority youths, who are keen to continue studies but unable to do so for financial reasons.
- To improve their career paths, and provide them equal opportunity to become contributing members of the Hong Kong society.
- To instill the spirit of hope and a sense of direction amongst the ethnic minority youths.
Biography of Mr. Yun Lin HU
Mr. Yun Lin HU was born on 19 July 1923 in Shanghai, China. His family originated in
Zhejiang province. Mr. HU believed that education can change one's destiny. He worked hard in the day time as an apprentice and struggled to complete his secondary school education despite the hardship brought forth by the Sino-Japanese War.
After living in Hong Kong for a short time, Mr. HU moved to Taiwan in 1948 where he founded the Crown Auto Supply Company. He was a caring father of six children, an honest man, a filial son, a faithful husband, a loving brother and a philanthropist. Mr. HU passed away on 9 July 2006 in San Francisco.

承蒙韋胡貞德女士以其先父名義作出捐款,本會得以成立胡雲麟少數族裔獎學金,協助本地少數族裔學生升讀專上課程。本獎學金會根據申請者的學業成績、品德、經濟環境、社區參與、個人目標、領袖才能、使命感、責任感等作評審,每年選出 5 位得主。每位得主可獲最高港幣 $20,000 資助。
成立目的
- 為面對經濟困難的少數族裔學生提供協助,鼓勵他們繼續升讀大專課程。
- 改善本地少數族裔的升學前景,提供平等的教育機會
- 為本地場數族裔學生豎立榜樣,鼓勵他們繼續為夢想進發。
胡雲麟先生簡史
胡雲麟先生生於 1923 年 7 月 19 日出生於上海,祖籍浙江 。胡先生相信教育可改變人的一生,他年青時刻苦勤儉,在日戰後的惡劣環境下,憑著信念半工讀完成中學課程。其後 1948 年胡先生搬到台灣生活,發展事業及建立家庭。胡先生為人誠實孝順,他是六位孩子的好爸爸、太太的好先生、弟妹的好兄長,也是一位慈善家。胡先生於 2006 年 7 月 9 日於美國芝加哥離世。

Applicants to the Yun Lin Hu Scholarship must fulfill the following criteria:
Basic application requirements
1) Ethnic minority residents in Hong Kong with valid HK Identity Card,
2)Full-time students receiving a minimum of 1 year post-secondary education i.e. vocational, diploma, degree course etc in Hong Kong.
Further selection criteria
Selection criteria is based on academic performance, conduct, strength of character, financial need, involvement in community affairs, participation in extra-curricular activities, clear life goals, leadership qualities, sense of responsibility and desire to contribute to their communities and to Hong Kong society.
Scholarship Details
5 scholarships of HK$20,000 each or the annual tuition fees, whichever is lower, will be awarded each year.
- The scholarship will be paid directly to the awardees' educational institutions to cover their course fees.
- The scholarship will be granted by instalment, as per requirement of the educational institutions.
- Awardees of the scholarship are obliged to support the mission and work of Hong Kong Unison Limited.
Membership of the Selection Board

2) Donor or his appointee(s)
3) A representative from the Board of Directors of Hong Kong Unison Ltd.
Administration of the Scholarship
The Scholarships shall be processed and monitored by Hong Kong Unison Limited.

1) Fill out the application form which is available at Unison's office or website
2) Send the completed form to Unison by post or in person to the following address on or before 5 pm, 31 August 2010: Hong Kong Unison Ltd., Room 1303, 13/F Wang Yip Building, 1 Elm Street, Tai Kok Tsui, Kowloon.
